Penza, an ancient town on the southeastern border of Russia, is the next stop of the Wayfarer. There he demonstrates his new skills. He appears to be good at making bicycles, chain-mail and cooking traditional Russian pancakes. He visits the ancestral estate of famous Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov and takes part in a 19th century ball’s reenactment.
