Today must be the day for beauty contests in Russia. 21 year old Ksenia Sukhinova was chosen from 108 contestants as the new Miss World. Video from Russia Today.

Jury head Julia Morley announced the winner of the 58th annual event with the words: “And Miss World 2008 comes from Russia!” The 178cm-tall blonde Sukhinova, from Nischnewartowsk in West Siberia, wore a dark purple evening gown in the final round of the competition. The last Russian to win the crown was Julia Kuroschkina in 1992. (Bild.de)
